On January 5th, one day after his name was chosen at random from thousands of entries, Brad MacDonald received the phone call of a lifetime. Take a listen:
After buying a t-shirt and a toque from the Courage campaign to support the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research at Sunnybrook, Brad earned himself 1,250 entries to win the grand prize: a trip for two to Toronto to watch a Maple Leafs game in a private box with Doug Gilmour and some of his buddies.
Shocked that he was speaking to Doug directly, Brad was short on words. But after the call, he expressed his gratitude and sent this note:
"It was my privilege to donate to this worthy and important cause."
In order to reach Brad by phone, we got in touch with a few people he works with at the Fort Erie Fire Department and each of them said the prize couldn't have gone to a nicer guy. We congratulate Brad on the win and thank him for his support.
We'd also like to thank everyone who made a contribution. With your help, the work being done to treat unbeatable cancers at Sunnybrook will continue to yield incredible results.
